I’ve been busy trying out new Baleful Strix decks in Pauper as it’s one of the strongest ways to get value in the format. There are plenty of shells to try given that we also have fairly good mana. Today I’m going to share some of the shells I’ve considered and their strengths and weaknesses.

Last week featured at least two big Pauper events in the Midwest (of which, I attended and played in BOTH!).
RIW had 30+ for Weds night Pauper and NRG Indianapolis also pulled more than thirty teams for a Team Trio Event (Legacy / Modern / Pauper). It’s safe to say Pauper is heating up, as is the weather! Finally….
Before jumping into today’s topic, I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about myself to help provide some context. I have been playing Magic: The Gathering at a somewhat competitive level since the early 2010’s, with some breaks between then and now. I was primarily a Legacy player, but have also been playing Pauper since what seems like the early days of the format. The earliest event that I participated in on MTGO was in October 2012, at least that is what I could find in my MTGO game record….
