Greetings Magic: The Gathering Pauper Fans! We at RIW Hobbies are excited to announce the 2025 RIW Pauper Championship Series & Pauper Invitational for the upcoming year.
In 2024, Pauper was our most popular and best performing Magic: The Gathering tournament format and so we wanted to do something special as a ‘thank you’ to all of our stalwart Pauper players and enthusiasts by bringing a new and exciting gaming experience to the tabletops in 2025.
What we’ve assembled is a year-long league based around earning points in our weekly and quarterly (large-scale MTG Pauper) events throughout 2025 and the top 16 point earners throughout the year will qualify to play in a special 2015 RIW Pauper Invitational tournament next December 6th.
RIW PAUPER CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES POINT STRUCTURE
Here’s how it’s going to work and how players can earn points in the RIW Pauper Championship Series to qualify for the RIW Pauper Invitational.
Pauper Fans can score points by playing in our Weekly Weds Night 6PM Pauper Tournaments where players who achieve an undefeated 4-0 record will earn 1 point per week.
Players can also score big points with a winning record at each of the four larger-scale, quarterly Pauper Championship Series events.
1st = 10 Points
2nd = 8 Points
3-4th = 4 Points
5-8th = 2 Points
Top 16 = 1 Point

Points earned in Weekly Events and Quarterly events will be tracked and updated for the entire year leading up to the RIW Pauper Invitational on December 6, 2025.
The concept boils down to rewarding the Top 16 point earners from all of our combined Pauper events throughout the year with a special Pauper Invitational where RIW Hobbies & Games will crown its own 2025 Pauper Store Champion!
The player with the most points at the end of the 2025 season (before the December 6th Invitational) will earn the title of RIW Pauper Championship Circuit MVP and will receive a special prize to be announced later.
As stated, the Top 16 point leaders at the end of the season will all qualify for the 2025 RIW Pauper Championship Series Invitational (no ‘tie breaker’ cut – everybody with the same record as 16th place gets in) and everybody who qualifies will receive commemorative gear in addition to other great prizes.
The 2025 RIW Pauper Championship Series Season officially begins Wednesday, January 8th, with our first weekly event, so be sure to get your deck ready for the new year! It’s going to be a fun and exciting 2025 for Pauper play here in southeastern Michigan and we’re looking forward to having you join us for Weekly and Quarterly Pauper events.
